Unless noted, the following data is based upon observations collected by the National Weather Service, Chicago, at O'Hare International Airport (ORD) between November 1978 and last year. Observations have been official at O'Hare since Thursday, January 17, 1980.

According to the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC), the normal high is 84 and the normal low is 64. The 29-year averages are 84 and 64.

On the hot side, in 1989 the high was 93 with a low of 73. In 1997 the high was 92 with a low of 72. In 1995 the high was 90 with a low of 70. In 2002 the high was 89 with a low of 71. Other hot highs include 93 in 1988, 92 in 1983 and three at 89 degrees ('79, '86 and '93). There were two lows at 70 degrees: 1999 and last year. The record high of 100 was set in 1955 and the record warmest low of 82 was set in 1916. 16 of the 29 highs so far have been 80s. For 10 years running, there have been no highs in the 90s (1998-2007).

On the cool side, in 1984 the high was 74 with a low of 55. In 2005 the high was 74 with a low of 56. In 1981 the record coolest high of 69 occurred with a low of 63. In 1991 the high was 77 with a low of 55. The record low of 52 was set in 1985. Of the nine 50s lows, four have been mid 50s and four have been upper 50s. The ninth was the record low - in the low 50s. 14 of the 29 lows have been 60s.

The following astronomical data is provided by the United States Naval Observatory. In Crystal Lake, twilight begins at 5:09 and sunrise is at 5:42.
Sunset is at 20:17 and twilight ends at 20:49. There's a total of 14 hours, 35 minutes of sunlight and 15 hours, 40 minutes between twilights.
