8, 1871 were lost in the Great Chicago Fire.

and the normal low is 56. I've calculated the 33-year averages at 78
and 56.
On
the hot side, in 2005 (O'Hare's warmest September 11th) the high was 90 (tied with 1978 as O'Hare's hottest high of the date) with a low of 69 (tied with 1974 as O'Hare's warmest low of the date). In 1979 the
high was 87 with a low of 65. Three years later, in 1982, the high was
88 with a low of 64. The record high of 95 degrees was set in 1952. The record
warmest low of 73 degrees occurred in 1961. Both records were set at Midway. 28 of the past 33 highs (85%) were in the: 70s (14) and 80s (14). One high was in the hot 90s. Four highs were in the cool 60s. The 70s & 80s have the day as far as consecutive appearances: six from 1979 through 1984, six from 1986 through 1991, 11 from 1994 through 2004 and six from 2007 through this year, 2012. My eldest sister Mary Ann, and her husband, William, will be celebrating their sixth wedding annniversary in two days. Another sister, Maria, and her huband Buddy will be celebrating their seventh wedding anniversary in three days. Both couples currently reside in Tampa, home to those amazing Rays.
Constitution Day, also known as Citizenship day, is in six days. This is a newer holiday, having been enacted by Congress just four years ago. The website "www.patriotism.org" says that Constitution Day is "a birthday for our country and it serves as a means for American citizens to express their pride in their citizenship.
