and the normal low is 54. I've calculated the 33-year averages at 73
and 51.
On the warm side, last year, in 2011, O'Hare had its warmest June 4th. The high was 92 (O'Hare's second warmest high of the date) with a low of 64 (O'Hare's warmest low of the date). In 1979 the high was 87 with a low of 63. The only other 60s low (from 1979 onward) was 60 in 1992. The record high of 97 was set
in 1977 at Midway. The record warmest low of 75 occurred back in 1925, at a time when the official readings were taken adjacent to Lake Michigan. 24
of the past 33 highs (73%) were in the: 60s (9) and 70s (15). There were consecutive highs in the 60s & 70s as follows: six from 1987 through 1992 and six from 1995 through 2000. Seven
highs (21%) were in the warm: 80s (6) and 90s (1). Two highs (6%) were in the cool 50s. O'Hare's second warmest June 4th was in 1977 as the high was its warmest high of 96 with a low of 58. O'Hare's third warmest high and only other 90s high was 90 in 1971.

the high was 80 with a low of 46, a 34 degree spread. In 1977 the high
was a hot 96 with a low of 58, a 38 degree spread, overall hot day and

The record warmest low of 75 occurred back in 1925. 24 of the past 32 highs (75%) were in the: 60s (9) and 70s (15). Six highs were in the warmer 80s. Two highs were in the cool 50s.
Yesterday's high of 87 and low of 55 produced a mean of 71 which is the second warmest June 3rd of the past 33 years and the fourth warmest June 3rd in O'Hare's history (since 1959). The warmest was in 1972 (92 & 64, mean of 78). The second warmest was in 1963 (88 & 60, mean of 74). The third warmest (and warmest of the past 33 years) was in 1981 (81 and 62, mean of 71.5). Today will be another warm day. I'll see where it ranks tomorrow.
