and 63.
On
the hot side, in 1999 (O'Hare's warmest July 5th) the high was 94 with a low of 79 (O'Hare's warmest low of the date). Five years
prior, in 1994 (O'Hare's second warmest July 5th), the high was 95 with a low of 77 (tied with 1977 as O'Hare's third warmest low). O'Hare's hottest high was 98 in 1988. O'Hare's second warmest low was 78 two years ago, in 2010. The record high of 102 and
record warmest low of 82 were set on the same hot day back in
1911, at a time when the official readings were taken adjacent to Lake Michigan. 32

O'Hare's coolest July 5th was in 1967 as the high was 66 (O'Hare's coolest high of the date) with a low of 48. 1983 (see above) was the second coolest July 5th. On the cool side, in 1983 the high was the only 60s high of 67 with a low of 48. In 1979 the high was 71 with a low of 47. These were the only 40s lows. In 2001 the high was 73 with a low of 54. The only other mid 70s high was 74 in 2004. Other cool lows were 54 in 1996 and 53 in 1997. The record low of 46 was set in 1972 and record coolest high of 65 was set in 1967. 15 of the 29 lows so far have been 60s.
