Unless noted, the following data is based upon observations collected by the National Weather Service, Chicago, at O'Hare International Airport (ORD) between 1979 and 2007.

According to the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC), the normal high for today is 67 and the normal low is 44.
The 29-year averages are 67 and 45.

On the warm side, in 2000 the high was 77 and the low was our only 60s low of 64. In 1979 the high was 81 and the low was 57. In 1993, the high was 78 and the low was 55. Other 80s highs were 84 in 1988 and 83 last year. Other mid 50s lows were 55 in 1998, 53 in 1999 and 53 in 2001. The record high of 87 was set in 1964 and the record warmest low of 68 was set way back in 1880.

On the cool side, in 1989 the high was 57 along with the record low of 29. In 1981 the high was 59 with a low of 32. In 1994 the high was 53 with a low of 39. The record coolest high of 43 was set in 1931.

The following astronomical data is provided by the United States Naval Observatory. In Crystal Lake, twilight begins at 5:09 and sunrise is at 5:41. Sunset is at 20:00 and twilight ends at 20:31. There's a total of 14 hours, 19 minutes of sunlight and 15 hours, 22 minutes between twilights. The moon is waxing crescent with 5% visible at midnight and 8% visible at noon. Moon rise is at 6:55 and moon set is at 23:21. Moonlight time is 16 hours, 26 minutes. The moon turned new at 7:18 on Monday, May 5th.

Mother's Day is in 4 days and Memorial Day is in 19 days. One of my sisters, Maria, will be celebrating her 29th birthday in 9 days. I wish her happy birthday!
